Thursday

We had so much fun yesterday, we had to go back for more. Each of the boys had a section to carefully scrape away. Then they would screen it for artifacts. It was really exciting to discover everything from buttons to glass bottles, plates, toys, dolls, and bottlecaps.

In the afternoon we swam at the wave pool. All of the kids got in and had the time of their life.

Needless to say, after fighting waves for five hours, they were ready to relax a little.

Wednesday

We got to spend the day with grandpa at his current archeological dig. We helped excavate the ice house on the old Wisner mansion in Pontiac Michigan.

Tuesday

Grandpa took us on a tour of his lab, and we got to see lots of classrooms at his school.

Then we got to eat yummy burgers

The girls went home for naps and the boys went to dad's old elementary school to play

Monday

We spent the day in Port Huron Michigan. Steve's dad is an archeologist, and spent almost 20 years excavating Thomas Edison's boyhood home in Port Huron Museum. We spent the morning in the Depot Museum that's all about Edison.

Then we watched HUGE lake freighters driving by (that's Canada in the background)

We went to the lightship museum

Sunday

Grandpa played checkers with the boys

Fox just got "kinged"

Then Grandpa showed the boys some treasures from our family history

And tried some hats on Summer

And we ended with a little rough housing:

Saturday

We spent the morning at the Oakland County Historical Society Party:

Fox helped Grandpa at the hot dog stand

We got a photo op with the president

We got to sit in and on old cars.

In the afternoon, we took a drive to see some friends on their farm. "Farmer Sam" gave dad a quick tractor lesson and then each of the kids got a ride.

Summer Learned to play Bocce Ball

And Megan helped the kids catch frogs out in the front yard.

It was a long day, but an amazing day.
